I have the cd version and i cannot install riven. it wont let me. ive read on a few sites that some people got it working fine on windows 8. can someone please help me get this to install?

Have you tried to play it with scummvm? Give it a try, I played successfully myst 1 with this engine port. You can even play it on other systems like android or linux.
