The game plays fine until I try to save. I press Escape, I see the menu items, including a SAVE button on the lower right side of the screen, but the SAVE button is not active. Nothing happens when I press it.

I'm on XP, SP3. Any ideas?

You have to click on one of the rectangles (slots) first, the save button becomes active after that.
