It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I've searched everywhere for a solution on multiple sites and have found nothing that works. Basically, everything's been working just fine in my game (except no intro but that doesn't bother me since everything else works) UNTIL I get to the stupid clock tower, and EVERY time I pull on a lever, the game freezes up. SO annoying.

I'm going to throw out there that I am a non-tech savvy 24 yr old girl, but some info:

Windows 8 (unfortunately)
Quick Time 6 installed (as recommended)

I've tried every compatibility recommended from win 98 to XP SP2 and XP SP3 for the game.

I've tried every compatibility for QT as well as using safe mode.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I've come too far in the game to give up now :(

Under windows 7 the problem of the missing intro and a few others problems with QT were usually solved by disabling visual themes (check the att. pic)

Is the same option, or an equivalent one, present in Windows 8 ?

I am having exact same problem as Anne. Disabling visual themes did not help. Any help?

Thank you for your reply. I was on my third download of Quicktime before I could get the game to play at all. I installed the newest version, version 5, and finally version 6.xx before gaining playability. I could try another version, and probably will, but the frustration level is pretty high right now to continue "trial and error" fixes.

I see GOG customer support allows no questions to be submitted for technical issues, only payment issues etc. Not good.

Click "SUPPORT" at the top of the page,
Click the cover of the game in question,
Click "i can't find a solution to my problem" on the left side pane

Thanks again. I followed those steps you list to be able to contact support. But instead of giving me an email form, it just short circuits me back to the community forums. If, however, I enter info as if I am having trouble processing a payment, an email form does indeed come up.

That's weird. Maybe try a different browser ? You should be able to get to the submission form for tech queries without problem, i checked it just now (i'm using Chrome) and it's working.

The only difference bewteen submiting a querie about payments, website, forums etc. and a game tech querie is that for a tech querie i think you´re required to attach a DxDiag.

UPDATED!!! Found success to my problems by following advice found under thread about "black screen" on startup. If anyone else if having these troubles, please find my comments there.
Not so fast. I get to pull a few levers in the clock tower now, but it still crashes. I thought my problems were solved with the re-installed version of Quicktime7 because I now was getting the intro video, and I could move the clock levers.

But now it still crashes after I pull the levers twice.

Perhaps I will try to contact support using Windows Explorer. I had been using Firefox.

NOPE. Can't email Support via Internet Explorer either.

Start a thread about not being able to contact support on the General Discussion Forum. Or try to pm a member of the staff, they're usually active on editorial (blue circle) threads on the General Discussion Forum.
