Hello
I always get this error message when I try to start the game. First the loading screen appears, then this message plops up and the game crashes. I had no problems when I tried the Early Access version about a year ago. Does anybody have the same problem? I really thought that a game that has been in development for so long would be free of such issues - especially as it wasn't present in earlier builds.

Same here. WTF?
Clean install and repaired as well.

I did get it started this way.

1 Delete the folder
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\config

2 Run the file
\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\bin\Win64_Shipping_Client\TaleWorlds.MountAndBlade.Launcher.Singleplayer.exe

For some reason I get an error when running from GOG Galaxy

Hello, just tried that.. It, sadly, does not help. Would you have any other solution in mind ?

Same here, doesn't work for me. Seems they messed up their release version. Splendid.

Not sure this is about the release version, I saw loads of people having this exact same issue, and for several years.. Plenty of fixes, but couldn't get any working for now
I did a clean install first after reading the following official FAQ
forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?threads/crash-checklist.431690/

To perform a Clean Install, Uninstall the game. You can do that by right-clicking the game on Steam Library and selecting Delete Local Content. Delete all folders related to the game that remains after the uninstallation.
The folders that might have files inside:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mount & Blade II Bannerlord
C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord
C:\ProgramData\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord

In any case, I think we need to wait until the official response

I will try that, thanks.. Even if I find it a bit weird that doing a clean reinstall could solve anything, since I had no mods at any point, and the game never launched.

Are we even sure about an official response ? I saw in several posts that those kind of bugs were there for several years already

Just finished reinstalling the game.. without any improvement, sadly
I just asked for a refund. I don't have the patience for such things anymore. Maybe I'll buy it again in some months after substantial bugfixing and if it's on sale. One should think the Early Access/In Development concept allows for enough (free) alpha/beta testing for developers to iron out such issues before the first gold release. Oh well.

If atleast we could contact the support, in hope for a solution. The bot just won't make any ticket for Bannerlord today (maybe its just for me, i don't know).. But well
I've been having crashes during startup for a long time. I recall being able to fix it by putting bannerlord on some sort of windows defender exception list, but that was back in version 1.7 something. I am completely unable to start the game now and I've tried everything I've come across.

This is pretty frustrating.

That's really annoying. And in addition if the problem is indeed years old I don't see how GOG's support should be able to help us anytime soon.

Idk, perhaps it is due to something else this time. I see loads of people having the issue there or on Reddit/The devs forums launching the game from GOG, but almost none from other launchers

Didn't work for me, either. Guess I'll wait for an update...
