I was battling in this epic moment with nothing else on my mind with my trusted, worn, favorite weapon when all of the sudden.... it was no more....

Lesson learned the hard way for you: Repair your favorite weapon!

P.S. Or take responsibility for your choices like me and don't re-load haha! - I made sure I would never forget ever again!

CONSTANTLY repair...every TIME you're NEAR a forge...repair it...even IF it's "serviceable", repair it to Excellent...because you hit ONE mob with it...and quality drops.

They SERIOUSLY need to rebalance parts of this game.

You need to bring more than one weapons for sure -- So far 3 let me handle situations for long enough without worrying being able to return to a forge.

If your damage is better you get more hit out of them so it balances itself nicely if you invest in weapons!

I am on my second run with a Melee only guy this time and I don't have issues with weapons durability (but I repair them most of the time when I am near a forge).
