So my memory of this game, the mining missions were super easy. I just fitted my 9 Hercs out the same as I would for any mission, it seemed like I'd been encountering 3-4 random Cybrids per mining mission... I just did one where I felt ambushed, there was turrets and Cybrids from multiple directions.. I got slaughtered, lost 3 Hercs!!

What's the deal, how do you tell which mining missions are actually a bit hard?!? I didn't know they came this way. It felt almost like a bug.

Am I wrong, does this happen?

Also, when I played this game a few years back (On Dameware) there was good FAQ out there with overkill information, now i can't find a decent faq, can anyone link to the best one?

I had a .txt faq lying around somewhere... that file covered most of the missions and such. I'll see if I can find it.
No hopes on youtube vids man?
Actually there's more to this game than meets the eye,

in response as to how hard each mission is when you read the report it'll tell you if the cybirds are in significant numbers etc.

Also has gravity which matters too, After you beat the first elite mission there's some heavy grav planets which i don't like.

To help you in combat though, You can train your bioderms with VR but remember that each mission they still learn, Reason this matters is things like piloting help your Hercs to dodge enemy fire etc.

Putting some sort of dampener on your hercs helps to reduce the chance of getting hit also, When you fight the Elite mission you will want to make your team as skilled and outfitted as possible.

Another thing to remember, If you play the elite mission, Make sure you have plenty of credits in the bank for afterwards, You will lose hercs in that mission.

Enjoy.

That sounds wild. I don't remember ever encountering turrets in a mining mission, and I've done the early missions a lot. I can understand why you had such a tough time.
I absolutely can confirm, having (after a sufficient of times doing missions in a system, particularly mining missions) the cybrids are *really* dug in, and I have encountered an entire functioning *base.* (Not a big base, but actual infrastructure nevertheless.)

I guess it would make sense that as you did more missions the non-sector base missions would get harder.
A Watsonian angle on it is that as you mine out a system's safer sites, you're increasingly being given mining missions which encroach on areas whose actual Cybrid presence is not only not strictly well monitored but also increasingly in their own well-entrenched territory.
Doylist? It's a lot more fun to randomly encounter an enemy base than to simply encounter a limitless number of Hades and Nihilus.

I love it when Watson and Doyle can agree that something makes sense.
