Hi,

So I just finished MM6 last weekend. I played it solo with 1 knight only.

Before you even begin with MM6, here are some really (I MEAN REALLY) important things to know:

- Dual wielding weapons should be avoided, it makes your character attack much slower, too slow. This is fixed with some kind of patch.
- "Always Running" when turned on greatly lowers your chances of hitting. Turn it off/on in combat with the "caps lock" key.
- Staff is the worst weapon in the game.
- The diplomacy skill is useless.
- Hirelings such as Wind Master, Gate Master, Healer make your life so much easier.
- Magic > Might. The fighting skills in MM6 are incredibly disappointing compared to MM7 and MM8. The only way a Knight can survive the late game is by having a 30+ bow skill, a swift bow, a stash of haste potions & 200+ speed. That's how you can rapid fire arrows like a machine gun and it makes the game too easy. Otherwise, you're going to hit for 20~30 damage with a dagger at a quick, but not amazing rate. And that's not cutting it when most enemies just spam spells.

Here's an interesting piece of advice:

- You don't have to clear dungeons completely. Better, you can run through dungeons avoiding monsters, snatch the quest item and then die and re-spawn, or teleport back to a safe place or walk back to the entrance. This makes later dungeons absolutely doable. Further, spell-casting monsters tend to run to the sides. So you can just snatch the quest item and leave without being blocked. It's kind of hilarious when you think about it. The knight excels at that thanks to high armor and hit points.

With that out of the way, I will say a few things:

- The early game is fun and not too difficult. This is partly because annoying spell-casters are kept to a minimum, and the dungeons are quite easy for that reason.
- The last few dungeons are an absolute grind, because they're flooded with nasty spell-casting enemies and are ginormous. No matter what party you choose you'll quickly run out of health and spell points, forcing you to do multiple trips. I believe that most people would simply quit the game at this point.
- The game is just too long IMO. There are too many quests and dungeons, especially at low levels.
- The solo-knight playthrough felt really tedious towards the end. I felt that the only improvement I got from leveling was hit points and faster recovery rate. I should have probably used a spear or sword over a dagger. It didn't matter in the end when the bow got out of control.

Actually it greatly increases recovery time (and has nothing to do with hit chance), but it isn't much better either.

Personally, I wish it was bigger. I wish it was the size of MM6+7+8 taken together with super high level zones. Though admittedly, MM 6 is one of the biggest RPGs ever made (I am not counting various MMOs).
The reason I don't want MM6 to be so big is because of the (understandably) limited character development. You reach a point in the game where all your skills are as high as they need to be. But in the case of the Knight, the bow skill is never high enough LOL.
