This is a minor thing, but after installing the patch, the music does not loop no matter what number I put in the .ini file. It plays one song upon entering a new area, but does not reiterate. If I save/load, it will play one iteration again. Odd.

Which patch version did you use?
Music loop function was broken some time age and it may be that it hasn't been fixed yet.

Edit: according to this topic a workaround would be minimising and restoring the game.

I remember back in the day it was considered a feature that the music didn't loop in MM6. It was assumed that players would get sick of the same piece of music over and over as they explored a large area or dungeon.
It's sort of a six of one/half dozen of the other thing. If the music is looping, you can always turn it off for awhile. But if it doesn't loop, you can save/restore anytime you want to hear it.
