i keep running into this problem in mm8. I received info that the quest has to be done exactly or it will not complete. That seems to be the case with me. I got all the water emptied out of the lair, Then clicked on the Minotaur leader's door at the entrance, & clicked on "quest." But the message that the flooding needed to be emptied was still there. I tried going to Dagger Wound & talking to Dadeross. But that didn't help. And the shops & people are still not there.

can someone advise me on how to resolve this problem/bug?

Question: I have completely drained Balthazar's Lair, but the shops are still all flooded.

Answer: You'll need to have the Herd Leader agree to an Alliance before the shops will be available. To do this; you first need to bring back Overdune Snapfinger as a witness to the Lake of Fire. Then you will receive the Alvarian Merchant Council quest to enlist the aid of three out of five factions within Jadame. If you have already drained the Lair, just complete the other steps before talking to the Herd Leader again.

I have done all of this, formed an alliance with the dragons & Temple of the Sun. And I Brought Overdune Snapfinger to Alvar. Then I was given the quest to form the alliances. After draining the Minotaur lair I tried to talk to the herd leader but got no acknowledgement that the lair had been drained. I even got the Balthazar Lair on my Town Portal by drinking from the fountain. But nothing seems to get the recognition that Balthazar lair has been restored.

Help!

Side question: I told Overdune to go on ahead and I would meet him back in Alvar or wherever, but after traveling there, he's not at any of the adventurer's in and I can't take him to the Merchant council.

Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem to yours but first I will try to answer your inquiry here.

You cannot complete this quest (to my knowledge) unless you take him into your party when you are in Ironsands before heading to Alvar. I am going from memory here so I may be wrong but I think this is one of those old quest bugs.

Now my issue is that I drained Balthazar's Lair and then spoke to the leader (Thanys? I get these names mixed up) who offered to join me so I said okay but since I had a full party he went to the Adventurers Inn. Now I do not seem able to get any quests or ability to form an alliance with the minotaurs.

The Minotaur leader (Masul) never joins your party as an adventurer. He goes to the alliance headquarters in Ravenshore (near the docks), along with the other leaders who join the alliance.

I don't know why they wouldn't join you, though. Make sure you have the quest to collect members of the alliance? Even if you drain the lair, they won't join you before you have that quest.

Sorry I forgot to check back here. my mistake was that I had spoken to the actual mino' leader right after fixing the flooded lair but not after getting the 'Form an alliance' quest which was necessary to really un-flood the place and use the shops and such.. In any case everything if working correctly and thank you for your reply. It had been so long that I was quite confused over a lot of stuff.

I've done that before. I wandered in to Ravage Roaming for something or other, cleared the lair while I was there, and then came back later to I flood the place after I got the quest to form an alliance.
