I'm in the tidewater caverns in Tatalia trying to find the map to evermorn island for the priest promotion. I've seen maps showing the location, but I still haven't found it. I did find a secret room next to a staircase that contains a chest but no map was inside it. If you walk close enough, there's a small square hole that opens up in the wall behind you, but it closes too fast for me to see what it is when I walk towards it.

Btw, I did not get the quest to become priest. Does this matter?

IIRC it does not matter whether you have that quest or not.
Also, weren't you speaking about the secret door near the entrance to the ship (the first stairs)?
You should check the room on the ship, where you get after you cross the deck. From there is a hole to some kind of cave, but the map is behind a secret door in that room. And there should be two chests, IIRC.
