My characters are at level 32, several dozen hours of gameplay, and now only the autosave works - after clicking 'save game' there's the generic 'MM7 has stopped working' crash. I've tried reinstalling, with/without Greyface patch, with/without Adminstrator privileges (although I never needed them before). I've tried all of my saved games (about 12), not just the most recent one, with the same problem. It only started after I tried saving during my first Arena combat (I know, I shouldn't have waited until level 32 - Knight level has Behemoths and Medusa Queens), and got the 'you can't save in the Arena' message. So I quit the Arena combat, reloaded my last game, and played for a while, only to find that saving no longer works. I uninstalled the game from the Control Panel, so everything should have been wiped clean - are all of my saved games now corrupt? If so, there's no way I'm starting over again (I already have 3 times) - it's on to MM8, which I haven't started yet. This is obnoxious!! I was about to defeat Wromthrax, too -

This thread might have a potential solution:

General idea is that quicksaves (from GreyFace's patch) can sometimes cause a crash. Try manually removing them out of the savegame directory and see if saving works then.
I am not using Greyface patch or quicksaves, and I've got exactly the same problem.

There is some mention in the other thread of mm7.ini, but I can't find that file, anyone know where it is stored?
I had the same problem, but i opened the .ini file and changed the settings like this: QuickSavesCount=1
QuickSavesKey=12 I have the all Greyface patch`s installed but now it works. I can not make a name for the saves in the game, but just go too the savegame folder and change the name manualy.
@Thomas: Old games used the registry a lot more than modern games do, so if they break something in the registry then they remain broken even if you uninstall them. You might try something like CCleaner while the game is uninstalled and se if you can get rid of any broken registry keys.
