I was clearing out the Temple of Baa in Ironfist when I encountered some issues. 1) I can't save the game anymore. When I go to the save menu, the game continues on as if it had saved, but when I try to load, nothing changed. It doesn't matter if I save over an old save or try to make a new one. I've tried loading the different saves but it doesn't help. It just won't save. 2) The game also crashes when I try to enter a new area. I can't leave the Temple of Baa and if I load an earlier save, I can't leave the Ironfist area at all. By boat, coach, foot, it still crashes.

I've tried running as administrator. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling.

I'm playing on Windows 8 (8.1?). I've tried running compatibility mode.

Any advice on something else I can try? I really want to play.

Install outside c:\program files... ?

I saw similar thread on MM 7, reason was in anti-virus which denied saving/loading the game. This, and what ZFR wrote.

My GOG games folder is not placed under Program Files.

Okay, the problem is definitely with the computer. I just borrowed a physical copy from a friend and tried playing that one. I got the same issues.

Did your AV actually get disabled, or just sort of pretend to be disabled without actually turning off all functions. Some of them have gotten quite pushy now-a-days.

Okay, I fiddled with the anti-virus some more (thank you Bookwyrm) and I can save now (but only in the GOG version...weird). I still can't enter a new area without crashing in either version.

Might be time to contact support. It may take them several days to respond the first time, but they should be able to resolve the issue by having you try various things.
