Sarisio: Swords are among the worst weapons in MM 6 - and it isn't because of their speed. Dual-wielding bonus won't scale as well as other weapon skills after you invested 12+ skill points.
Yeah, but mid-game, dual wielding is much stronger than any single weapon skill. And by the end you have so many skill points that the investment into the sword doesn't really matter if you switch for something else.

Jann180: What I meant with the recovery is that the cap is 30 (though it might be with the patch only). I know it makes it 10% faster.
What I was trying to say is that the 10% from the 'of recovery' item is taken off after the cap is put on the number. So, the cap puts the number at 30, then of recovery turns 30 into 27. This effectively means that 27 is the cap while wearing 'of recovery' items.

Yeah, two handed swords are bad. Although the sword in the stone in New Sorpigal is pretty good for a starting character if you have enough Might to pull it out.

I guess you mean dual wielding two swords is worse than using one other weapon + maybe a shield. The point of swords is that you use them as off-hand weapon and another weapon as main hand (spear or mace), this allows you to get damage from the main hand weapon skill, item, and enchantment while also getting damage from the sword item and enchantment.

Then why not use dagger in other hand? Daggers are 30 pts faster than Swords and they can occasionally produce additional damage, and without fan patch recovery time of weapons when dual-wielding is added together in MM6. What you mean makes sense in fan-patched MM6 and in later MM games, otherwise swords are quite useless, and dual-wielding isn't really useful altogether.

Agreed. I suppose swords are useless without the fan patch.
