I'm currently at square lake, everyone is ca lvl 80 with ca 3000hp.

Most fights in the square lake are easy, but every now and then one of them totals my team, eradication, paralyzing everyone, backstabbing etc.

Anyone have any tips? Am I at too low of a level? Too low hp? If I can't think of anything else, I'll probably just slowly create a list of everything which still kills me and run from them, which means running endlessly through empty corridors...was just wondering if anyone had a better strategy.

Thanks!
Which enemies kill you, and how many are they?
Being lvl 80 you must have grinded a lot. With the game being level scaled it means you'll face larger amounts of enemies in each encounter.
Mass Distortion is a good spell to soften up HP bloated enemies like Orc Gods.
And you should always have protection spells up and/or Blessing from a Temple.

Getting enough speed to act before the enemies helps tremendously. If you can kill an enemy before it acts in a round, it won't get to act, and neither will its replacement.

Cast Protection from Elements/Magic manually; they're stronger than the temple blessings at this point. If you want, you can temporarily boost your level (for example, with Skill Potions or Gold equipment) before casting them for a more powerful benefit, but be aware that raising your level above 235 may lead to integer overflow when you cast the spell.

During battle, cast Power Shield right away. This will cut the damage you take in half. (Note that this doesn't affect the displayed damage, but does affect the amount by which your HP actually decreases.)

If you are being HP killed, you can use Max HP potions (enchant them to +5 (so they give 1792 max HP per use) and recharge them so they don't run out of charges). This will give you so many HP that you won't realistically need to worry about running out, though you will need to use Divine Intervention to actually recover your HP. Unlike most boosts, which only last for one battle, this extra HP will last until you rest.
Thanks for the responses.

I get 200+ monsters per encounter. Not a problem really, they're generally weak enough to go down in one hit and they tend to run away alot. The only real problematic situations are when my healers get killed, stoned, paralyzed, etc. so I have no real way of recovering other than going back to a temple, so I might as well just restart.

I'll try the protection spells, power shield, blessings etc.

Thanks!

Do be sure you've got the +1000HP in the dragon cave. And you can get a lot of your stats high by visiting castle dungeons. And get your equipment as awesome as it can go.
Also, don't forget that you can change your disposition. At high levels, you probably want the first one on the list (I think), as that will reduce the number of enemies in an encounter a bit, saving a bit of time.
you can also raise your stats via the circus too

i know it had something to do with bringing cupie dolls to an old man (D3 - 7,13) and doing what he tells you
this can be repeated as much as you wants though there is a stat cap i don't remember if stats roll over to 1 if you try going over the cap

note: you can get the dolls either from circus games or one of the castles (i think the one in the north)
Thanks guys for all the tips, very helpful.

I managed to finish it with combination of more stats, hp, and just caution. I ran away from anything which looked like it could remotely kill my healers in one blow and only fought the 100% sure-win fights. Took a while and a lot of empty corridor running, but wasn't that bad really.

Thanks!

There are 2 ways to permanently raise your stats even higher, if you need to:

1. In the castle dungeons, there are spots where you can trade one stat for another. This allows you to raise a stat to the cap of 255 at the cost of another, but you can use the usual spot to raise the other stat back up to 50. Alternatively, if you unequip an item, you lost its stat boost, but not below 0, and re-equipping the item will raise the stat back to the amount the item provides.

2. If you equip an item and it breaks when equipped, the stat boost becomes permanent. Casting Uncurse Item can set the number of charges the item has remaining to 1 (yes, that's what that spell does) so that it will break the next time you use it as an item. Of course, the item has to be usable as an item for this to work, and there is another bug that, IIRC, prevents the item from breaking outside of battle. (You *know* a game is buggy when, when trying to trigger a glitch, you have to dodge an unrelated bug.)

Note that, if you use method #2, you don't have to worry about stat overflow; I don't know about method #1.

(Does #2 work in Might and Magic 1?)
