Another method you can try is to rename D3DX9_43.dll that's in the game folder to something like D3DX9_43back.dll and see if the game will use your PC's version of D3DX9_43.dll instead. Keep in mind this is not officially supported and is experimental so make sure to keep a back up of this file in case this does not work.
