Hello,

I recently wanted to go back to Metro as I love this series nearly as much as the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. However I've started having an issue with the resolution not going to my native resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Ingame the max the resolution will go to is 1680 x 1050. I tried googling around and found some things to try such as editing the user.cfg, I understand there are multiple ones.
I have gone in the user and changed the resolution so it looks like the below.
r_res_hor 1920
r_res_vert 1080

However whenever I launch the game it still doesnt go to this resolution (I have confirmed using some recording software). I made sure to double check that the user.cfg files were read-only.
I have found one fix for this so far, if I change fullscreen to off in user.cfg so its windowed, this works. However that means I get the taskbar appearing at the bottom along with the desktop if I change the resolution. Doesn't look like theres a borderless option. Something to note, the ingame settings still show 1680 x 1050 despite the windowed one being in 1920 x 1080.

So basically, I can't change the game resolution to 1920 x 1080 on fullscreen. Tried with every single user.cfg (they all now say the same thing). Without read-only the one in C:\Users\-username-\AppData\Local\4A Games\Metro 2033 gets changed by the game to what the game's resolution is at. With read only on it doesnt change what the file says but it ignores what the resolution is set to.

I also like to add I tried using both the GOG and Steam versions of this, I don't remember having this problem in the past and certainly didn't on the original Metro 2033. I made sure I only had one version installed so it wouldnt get confused there. It looks like this is also happening with Last Light.

Does anyone know any solutions to this besides attempting what I already tried with the user.cfg and read only? That seems to be the only thing I could find online. Windowed mode I don't really enjoy using for games like this. I not had any trouble on any other game regarding this. I also tried deleting the user.cfg multiple times.

Sorry for the trouble!

Specs if that helps:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Memory: 16GB DDR4
Monitor: Acer XB240H
OS: Windows 10 64bit

After continous searching, I found out Metro Redux doesnt seem to want to go 16:9 widescreen for me in fullscreen.

I went and tried the Windowed Borderless Gaming program, managed to get it to work with Metro 2033 Redux windowed and I can now play the game at the resolution I want to without any bars. I assume this will also work with Last Light.

Hopefully if anyone ever gets a similar problem to me, you likely will have to play this in windowed with the borderless gaming program.
Thanks, it worked! Now I will be able to continue playing it. Regards!
