Hi,
Have you tried any of the compatibility modes ?
tried all compatibility modes Vista, xp, me etc.
No luck won't even boot
keep the ideas coming guys, we will get it soon
A couple things you can try, first go into the games settings and turn off any extra fancy sound options like EAX etc if you have those enabled. Make sure you also download the latest soundcard drivers for your sound card.
If you have a 5.1 or higher speaker setup I've heard MDK2 can have problems with those. If you got to startmenu --> control panel --> sound settings and then change that from whatever you have to stereo sound to see if that works.
The last thing to try is to just disable your soundcard and see if your build in sound on your mobo will play the sound. Right click my computer --> properties--> hardware tab --> device manager--> then find your sound card under sound and just disable it and see if MDK2 has sound.
Hi all
Ralackk idea has worked.
although the essence is stero amp card not 5.1 it does have GX for headphones
went to the options on the sound card and oppss gx surround was on
With the GX off it boots with no problem so looks like MDK2 soes like surro

Good to hear its running now, I think MDK 2 can run in 4 speaker surround sound but anything higher it might have problems with.

Good to know it's working now.
Don't forget to mark Rallack's post as the correct answer.
Have fun :)
Troubleshooting the sound problem on my Win 7 machine, I discovered that MDK 2 is sensitive to the audio sampling rate set via speaker properties. 24 bit, 41100 Hz is fine, but setting the sampling rate at 96000 Hz or 192000 Hz (the highest setting) kills all sound within MDK 2.
