All,

For whatever reason I'm having a problem with MOO classic running slow, in general, but especially when going into the battle scenes. I set the graphics to OpenGL, which at least keeps it from crashing, but still slow nonetheless.

Is anyeone else experiencing this or anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

GM

Increase the CPU cycles to say 30,000.
The default of 3,000 is too slow. At least it was on my computer.

Yes, at least 4500 cycles. I find 5000 completely sufficient.

PetrusOctavianus, thanks for responding to my post. I edited the dosbox.conf file, in the [cpu] section to this:

core=auto
cputype=auto
cycles=30000
cycleup=10
cycledown=20

but when I launch the game it still says it's running at 3000 cycles and still is slow. Is there another way to do this or am I going about this the wrong way?

Thanks for your help...

maker252:
GOG's installation of MoO is such a mess. I cannot remember now exactly which file to edit for it to take hold but you can always just press CTRL + F12 a couple of times to increase the speed.

There are already several threads on this issue. I do not feel like digging myself now but they should tell you which file(s) to modify.

I checked my own CONF file and this is how the relevant parts look:
"core=auto
cputype=auto
cycles=fixed 9000"

Note the word "fixed" before the value.

Fixed that for you. I agree, fixed is the way to go for this title.

Why there are several conf files after having installed it from GOG, super confusing.

Petrus and Themken, thank you both very much for your help. Setting cyles to 'fixed 9000' as Petrus fixed it, much appreciated.
