hey guys!

i'm (almost) 400 turns in (humans / huge galaxy) and i enjoy the game quite a bit so far!

there are a lot of things i like:
- visual design / graphics
- sound design / music / voice over
- exploration / colony management
- research / tech tree
- the overall game progression / pace
- the combination of star lanes and jump gates
- as someone who mainly played MOO1 i appreciate that you included GNN! :-)

of course there are also some things i'm rather concerned about:
1) the 500 turn limit! this should be optional! seriously! :P

2) the way ship refitting / upgrading works is a little inflexible.. is there really no way to MANUALLY upgrade a SINGLE ship piece by piece without having to consider it's corresponding blue print??? in my opinion this was one of the greatest things in MOO2.

3) in the ship creation screen i think there should be waaaay more info about the specific weapons.. above all the weapon range info is missing! in general i would like to see more numbers.. a lot of weapons / device descriptions are rather vague.. whenever i read "xyz is increased significantly" i think to myself: "well, by how much exactly?".. so please: more specific numbers / values! thx! ;)

4) it would be FANTASTIC if there were a galaxy size even bigger than large.. ideally combined with the possibility to play against all other races at once!

5) the sakkra adjutant sounds like jar jar binks which is NEVER a good thing... ;)

You should be able to upgrade your ships manually, did you miss the ship design screen? Or do you mean something else?
I can't speak for lolfried directly but I have the same issue. I can manually build a ship design but the first time I gain a new tech the game changes the whole ship design. the game changes more than just the tech I want upgraded and will for instance change out weapons during a shield or armor upgrade. I suspect that the game is reverting my custom build back to a default ship design or into something that is a "recommended" design. I do not like this about the upgrade system. in order to maintain the design I want I have to forever manually upgrade the design and never auto upgrade system as it is now.

upgrades should only change the one part of the ship being upgraded and if my design can't fit the new tech for some reason (like size) the "upgrade" button should be changed to a "redesign" button so I can pick what is changed to make the new tech "fit" into the design. The game should never take off the beam weapon type I had on a ship and put on another type of beam weapon just because I ask it to "upgrade" that ship with a new shield.

The bottom line is the auto upgrade system is messing with custom designed ships in ways that are unwanted. I don't want an upgrade "AI" to help me design and maintain the designs of my ships. please make updating customs designs easier and less invasive.

I hate to led off with negative feedback but keep up the great work. Overall I am loving the game and will add more comments as I have time.

Yeah, you guys are doing something wrong if you can't save your ship designs.

Make sure you name it a different name when you save.

And don't auto-upgrade your custom ship, when given the option, the AI will mess that up.

i know that is possible to manually update a blue print and then uprade all ships that are linked to this blue print.. what's missing is an option to manually update/upgrade each single ship without having to consider the corresponding blue print..

for example.. i have a blue print X and build 3 ships (A, B, C) based on it.. then i research a bunch of new technologies.. now i want to upgrade each ship individually.. for instance i would like to equip ship A with phasors, ship B with a black hole generator and ship C with a lightning shield.. since all 3 of them are linked to the same blue print X, this is not possible or am i missing something?
