The original Majesty 2 Collection relies upon GameSpy (a now-defunct multiplayer lobby service), and so only LAN-gameplay is possible, really limiting open or competitive play.

Does GOG's version of the Majesty 2 Collection place a new matchmaking lobby instead of GameSpy? Or, is it literally the same version (1.5.355) as the other M2's?

I just thought I would close the loop on this and provide the answer for those of you curious.

No. The GOG version (version 1.5.356 en (paradox) 2010-04-21, is the same exact version as GamersGate's (or, technically, Steam's), as provided directly by Paradox, but with DRM removed. Multiplayer is handled using one of two options: "Internet", via GameSpy (which is now defunct), so this feature doesn't work for random matchmaking; and "LAN", which is entirely serviceable. However, to play with friends on the Internet who aren't on your LAN, you need to create a VPN or Private LAN that invites them so that they can appear on LAN-only games, like Majesty 2.

So does this work over Hamachi or some other vpn lan setup?

Really wanna play some Majesty multiplayer either on steam or through GOG.. whichever.

Also have evolve launcher but never used it but apparently it works for old games maybe?

Open to other options or ideas.

Also am looking to try play Battle Realms multiplayer somehow.

Hi was the LAN option removed? Somehow i can no longer select it.......

It's disabled by default but you can edit the preferences file to re-enable it.
