Is there anyone who did finish all the campaigns in game? I've read about a bug in game version that GOG sells (1.0) that makes some campaign mission unplayable ("End mission" script trigger doesn't work)?

As far as I can remember, without the official patch, the script trigger that ends certain missions in M.A.X.2 will not work properly.

The beauty of having M.A.X.2 patched is that the player can play every single mission in the campaign without success; If the player fails a mission, M.A.X.2 will not hold the player back. Campaign missions can be skipped and the player can move onto the next one.

Do you have the patched version? Patching GOG version of M.A..X.2 with official Interplay patch 1.40 makes game campaigns unplayable for me: it says "Wrong save file - can't load". Though scenarios run fine.

I own the retail version of M.A.X.2 and yes, it is patched at v1.40; My patch came from either a older PC GAMER cd, or a dedicated online site. Either way, I kept the patch stored on a disc for years.

I have never had any problems installing or launching M.A.X.2 and I've owned various computers over the years since the day the game came out without a issue. Ever.

Try using a different save slot in the Load screen.

--- or ---

It wouldn't hurt to uninstall M.A.X.2 and complete a fresh re-install, would it?

This problem appears not when loading the save, but when trying to start the campaign itself, its first scenario. GOG tech support only brought me "apologies for inconvenience" and merrily proposed to play the unpatched version (which is unplayable in campaign mode too)... :)
Reinstall didn't fix it.

That is unfortunate.

:(

Granted, M.A.X.2 has its share of minor problems, however, you are only revealing part of the problem; What is happening on your end of the monitor? What are your system specifications?

Win 7 Ultimate, 2*2048Gb memory, AMD dual-core CPU (don't remember correctly its exact specification), Ge Force 8800 512Mb.
I think it's the only GOG game I met issues with...

As I've written before, I own the retail version of M.A.X.2 not the GOG version.

I have never encountered such a problem with M.A.X. 2

I come to the M.A.X. series forums to discuss strategy with other M.A.X. players not the technical issues.

Come back when you have resolved your technical difficulties with the game to discuss strategy.

Good luck!

:)

It was your question... :)

And it's me who started this thread.

And it's not dedicated to M.A.X.2 tactics.

So good luck to you too!
