I bought the game and I am loving it. I like the music of it as well, which is always a good plus. Despite not a huge variety of tracks, the ones it has, work well. I really like story based games. I like point & click adventures and rpg's. So the jump to a simulator game with a nice story and many different branches that can take place is very interesting. I have not died yet though and I am halfway there. On week 28 to be precise. I do feel that I will need to make some good investments in order to secure her well being. At the beginning I tried to make sure she could dodge and use a bow. Sword will probably work as well. In my vision she needs good manners and become a good diplomat. Once she learns that she has to learn some other key things. Man there's so many things she could learn that are vital. :)

Basically you'll like it if:

1. The art style is appealing to you
2. You like story driven games where you make choices
3. Develop your character.

You won't like it if you are more action orientated or do not like reading much. Imo.

Obviously, it has some spoilers, but if you train Elodie differently it should be a pretty different game for you. I tried to power game the thing and only train skills that had a mood advantage...got me decently far :)

This game is just one of those old books before the roleplay games.
I'm happy I bought it cheap, as I was some disapointed..., I thought there was actual randomness:
no, all the events are set from day to day, all games are the same.

It's not randomized, but the all the games are not the same, strongly non-linear.

Yeah, it's a maze, you go in dead ends and come back or restart until you find the exit.
We're a rat.
Many games are like that, but in LLtQ we see the walls behind the background.

I agree with the non-linearity. Sure, the events are set, but many path will trigger or disapear according to what you did.

If it's a maze, it's one where you don't have to take ONE path to get to the end. It's not the "one true path and all the rest are dead ends" crappy kind of maze.

My first attempts, while I was crawling to my first ending, were quite similars, since I was more or less on the same "path". But after I won, and decided to try new things, my second playthrough was quite different from the first, with new plots, new events, and new opportunities.

I feel I can't be the queen that I want.
The game compell us in playing the needed role to survive.
I wish, instead of playing like the game wants, I could take the role of 'fuck the queen and her no-game duties!', and disappear in the woods with the 'bandits'.

roles, plural. I managed to win in "pretty pink singing Disney princess" mode (very satisfying ending, that one), and I'm close to doing it in "sorcerous seer queen" mode ^^
After that, I think I'll see if "cruel psycho warqueen" can survive long enough to oppress her people.

But yes, there are mandatory skills for some of the approaches (My "Disney princess" was good in expression, communication, good manners and other elegant things, but I had to give her some serious spying knowledge to survive this path). That can make you feel somewhat cramped.

But I like the non-linear thing. Gives the game some replayability, especially if I set some objectives for myself and see if they can be accomplished (mending my relationship with my aunt, or saving Briony, for example).

I'm playing this since monday and still didn't succeded (though I admit that sometimes I make a decision I know will end badly, but I wanted to see where it leads). A very nice game with enough diversity in story to keep interested (question: has anyone saw all epilogues? I guess there is 24 of them :D). There are some paths I don't see how to get through yet, but I'm sure they are possible to complete. First 23-25 weeks seems crucial and unless you make the best of them there is always a failure waiting afterward - once you get the choice to attend friend's birthday game goes on rollercoaster and tries to kill you. An enemy invasion from sea is as far as I get for now and I never manage to get past Old Forest, only talk Briony out of going there.

BTW: are Faith skills of any importance? Because for now they seems like strongly support type, gets you additional information but are useless otherwise,

They can be. Knowledge is power. Meditation is the non-informational one. Old forest you have to plan from the beginning and even then it's easy to miss a skill.

Ok, mange to win once. There was some blood, but also give press to people and support artistry, so not that bad.
