Is there anywhere where spells/scrolls are explained? I love playing mage and have found a number of scrolls but don't really know what the scrolls do and how the whole spell 'thing' works.

Somewhere in these posts on forum there is somebody giving guidance on spells and quotes like 7,6,5 etc and I don't really know what he is talking about.

I am still low level mage, have 3 points in fire spells and am using that fine. but any other rune I use 'fizzles'.
Also found a staff and also a scroll which says that the staff is really powerful. So what does the scroll do? Is it just for explanation and now taking up weight in my bag, should I throw it out? What about firespell scroll. It seems to do nothing whatever way I click it.

Scrolls only give you information. You can just try out combinations to see if spells work, it either
fizzles, works, or it doesn't work because a certain magic skill wasn't high enough level.

Indeed yes, you can throw the scrolls out (even the ones containing spells. you should however,
write the combination down so you don't forget).
