How will any future patches/updates be handled?

With older titles, this problem is non-existent but now that GOG.com is getting into new titles, will there be a better way to handle patches? Example; The patching method for The Witcher 2 was less than straightforward, at least for me.

Many other games were patched too. You just weren't informed about that.
This is one of the reasons I will not be a day-1 player, although I got the pre-order already (thanks to a certain generous giveaway). As my internet connection is slow and limited, I think I'd better wait for maybe several months before downloading and playing the game, with the hope that by then any patches will have been integrated already.

That, and the fact that I am such a lazy gamer, I'd likely wait for others to write walkthroughs first before I play it :-)

The new downloader supports auto patching.
Witcher 2 patch method was buggered but is fine now.

If you are willing to wait several months to download and play the game, why not download it within the first week and see if there are any problems the game? Worse case scenario, if you find a bug that makes the game unplayable just wait a few months for the patch and re-download it again.

Perhaps I am overly optimistic, but from all my trolling on the official website I get the impression that this team has thoroughly tested their product--even to the point that they have time to go back through and refine small aspects of the game most developers don't worry about (even when constructing the first patch). I am not typically inclined to bet, but I bet this game is going to be worth downloading and play from day one.

Yes, I am actually willing :-)
Limited internet connection and download cap is just about half of the reasons. As I said I am a lazy gamer, I usually play games with walkthrough. So, I'll wait until a walkthrough is written. Besides, I still have some games left on my backlog, so I am not too worried about waiting several months.
Fair enough. With all the games I want to play and the limited time I have available, I also tend to use a walkthrough as well. However, this is one of those games that I am excited to play and try to beat without any help--I am hoping for a nostalgic game experience that is also refreshing and fun. But to each his own when determining which game (if any) to try and complete without any help.

Sadly, unless the game is totally random such as Fate series and Torchlight, I usually have to rely heavily on walkthrough, since I am pretty hopeless without one. So yeah, not much of a choice for me in this matter.

Thanks chautemoc, didn't know that.

Hey, the game size decreased from 1.2GB to 0.4GB. I was rather reluctant to download a game that *big* with my limited internet connection. But for 0.4GB I guess what the heck, I'll download it now :-)

Let us know what you think after you get a chance to play it. :-)
