I really liked Anvil of Dawn so I thought I'd check out Legend of Grimmrock.

Unlike AOD though this game is a little more complicated. I have no experience with these type of RPGs and even with the auto party option I feel a little it overwhelmed by all the stats and powers and what it all means.

I've been reading the manual but does anyone know of any recesses or tutorials out there that would help. This game looks fun but I don't know what I'm doing :<
Every skill or attribute is described in the game if you point the mouse on them. And the manual is the only other option. Alhough I don't know what do you want to know exactly. Skills? Combat system? Spell casting?

I'm just not sure where to get started. Yes it describes things but it doesn't really tell you how it's going to affect game play. Also how do you cast spells in it. They fizzle every time I try it.
Well, spells require certain level in a certain magic. Fire blast requires Fire Magic lvl 1.

Although the skill system has been reworked pretty strong, it still resambles to some degree the one from LoG1. But I suspect you haven't played the first game, have you? :)

It might also help to watch an Lets Play so that you can see were to start and what can be done(and what not).
Since you are from australia i recommend this dude:

Or check him out:

The last one(carnage) already played through the game and knows exactly what he's doing, but he is also pretty fast and does not explain things like Tales of Lumin does.

Have fun and good luck!
Stupid question but here goes anyway.

How do I reload a gun? I have a Ratling alchemist on my party, and I thought I'd make him use firearms. I've found a flintlock, and about 50 pellets which I assume are bullets in the game. But I can't figure out how to reload the weapon. If I put the gun on his hand and right-click, it says no ammo. Dragging the pellets on top of the gun doesn't work. And if I'm mistaken and the pellets are for the sling: well that doesn't work either. Says "no ammo" when I try to use it. Sooo....help? The rat bastard is quickly proving to be the weakest link in the party.
Shouldn't you put the gun and pellets in both hands? Just like with the bow or slingshot...

This. And to be honest, i only use it as a secondary weapon (ex. when i run out of arrows) since it doesn't scale.

Thanks, got it working. Then I ran out of ammo, and thought that if I have to use both hands to wield even the simplest of guns anyway, I decided to forfeit gunplay entirely and gave the rat Earth magic. Which, as I found out, sucks in this game too. Sigh... 'tis gonna be a difficult journey.

Shhh, not to spoil it, but be more patient!

You'll find better guns. Although admittedly, I played through the game twice and found guns to be severely lacking.

Tip: Don't use up your gold keys whenever you find a gold lock. Save the game, open the lock and see if it is anything useful in the long run. That way you'll most likely still have a gold key when you come across a particularly nice gun.
There are more gold locks than there are keys.

Another tip: Magic wise, go for fire. It's absolutely the most useful magic in this game by far. (Also don't forget fireballs need 1 air magic and meteor storms need 3 air magic.)
