title kinda says it all, but one thing i'm sorta wondering about is resting. So far it would seam that a small locked room would be the best choice, so the random wandering monster doesn't get ya.. but is there such thing as resting to much?

it seams that big battles can pop up, especially on your first time through, and a well rested party is typically the only hope of battle. (most often on rooms that you get locked into)

I have learned that moving is very key in many battles, But often it is how rested i was that is the factor...

So far the only real issue i can see with resting often is the food factor.. resting makes the game take longer, so in turn you will need food for longer periods of time. Is this the only thing to worry about with resting and time? Or is there something i'm missing?
I've only rested once - at a particular spot on Level 2. (Currently on Level 4.)
Personally I didn't feel the need to rest. The only reason I did it at all was to get the little story sequences.

It is the only factor other than monsters find you while your asleep, but its a pretty important one, i found out the hard way as i had to restart the whole game on lvl5 after taking too long to figure out secrets on lvl4, i used up all my food resting & jumping down pits.

I think its okay to rest often, provided you've saved up plenty of food & eat sparingly. A little food icon shows up when you should eat.
As a dissenting experience, I've been resting quite a bit. I'm on level 8 now.

Food for me hasn't been a problem at all... i actually seem to have more than I should be carrying at this point. I don't think resting burns through food all that quickly, which is what I was afraid of.

The monsters do move around while your sleeping, but its done intelligently. If they can't get to you, they don't magically show up while you're asleep.
Not very often, but sometimes I do rest just to attract the roaming monsters, when I don't feel like running after them.

Also when I get poisoned, I rest. Your regeneration will overcome the poison dot and you can get rid of that poison pretty fast that way.

yea that is my main reason... either that or some bad arse monster has kicked my butt.

But with food, I have noticed that it lasts much longer if you just wait till you get the hungry icon to eat. It seems that any time you eat soon enough to fill the whole bar, you wasted some.
I just reached level 4, and I've been resting a lot.

Out of curiosity, for you non-resters, how are you healing your party after the tougher fights? Just hanging out and waiting for health to slowly regenerate, using potions or something else?

It sure does, and at first, I was worried about using rest, but (so far) I didn't have any problems with food supplies.
