When installing from setup_legend_of_grimrock_1.0.0.6.exe on Win 7 Prof. SP1, I am getting stuck after the file validation step.
When file validation is completed, the validation dialog closes, and a new icon titled "Setup" becomes visible on my tool bar. I can't see this window, even when clicking on it's icon in the toolbar. (If I enable an Aero desktop, there is a preview when hovering over the icon, however it is a blank window and the position of the window isn't revealed - also, opening task manager and selecting any window sizing option does nothing).
In task manager, there are 2 processes: setup_legend_of_grimlock_1.0.0.6.exe and setup_legend_of_grimlock_1.0.0.6.tmp. The latter shows a status of "not-responding" in resource manager. In order to stop the program, I have to stop these two processes (closing the task in task manager does not close it).
Attempted solutions (all solutions produce the same as above):
- restarted PC
- run program as administrator
- run program in compatibility modes for XP SP2 and XP SP3
- downloaded a new setup file from gog
- Safe mode with nothing in start up except for required windows components
- stared at screen angrily and growled through clenched teeth
I've run out of ideas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and maybe save some hairs on my head.
