Hi,
And yes, I've looked under the SAVE subdir and nothing there.

I have a few save games from back in old days and wanted to try out with the Betrayal Pack. BaK save games worked fine as I was able to just pasted the old files under GAMES subdir and voila! - no problems!

I noticed the SAVE dir under BiA contains two files, both of which do not changed after I started a new game and saved it today. In fact, the 'Date Modified' is the detail I looked for when trying to find those new save games. Curiously enough, the entire dir, and subdir under BiA is not updated at all today, which prompted me to think the save games are located in another HDD? Can anyone elucidate? Thanks in advance.

You are right. I did not realise that when I started the game yesterday and made a test save. So I checked again today.
Are you using Win7?
Under Win7 I found it in:
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Sierra\Betrayal in Antara.

SO under Win7 it should be in that directory for other systems in an analogue folder where your user stuff is. Beware that the folder AppData is invisible if you don't show the hidden folders.

Holy smoke! Are you serious?! Actually, without testing I think you've found it. Would have taken me the rest of the year to get there. Makes me think of the game Blackguard from Steam, its save location is
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Blackguards\76561198051153890\Save

And yes, I'm still using Window 7. And yes, AppData is bloody hidden (well - it won't be for long). God, I miss Window XP and the good old days of save files under the dir of the same name! No, that's not true. I still have an old Dell Dimension running Win XP :D
Thank you, moonshineshadow, you are a legend. Cheers!
