It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Many years ago I played RtK a lot, so I didn't expect any problems when I bought from GoG. Clearly my memory isn't what it ought to be. I simply can't remember how the lock/trap screen works.
I do know that I'm getting lots of damage every time I try this out. I have (clearly) got as far as clicking on a chest and finding a lock/trap toolkit coming up. I can also see that the listing down the side appears to show some combinations. So far, so - well not so good.
I've also found that the "lockpick" appears to unlock the chest, once I've taken the damage. But what do I do with the rest of the tools, and how do they relate to the list of types down the left of the screen?

You're missing the manual for RTK, is that it ?
If so, you can download it from here.
Right Click on the 'Krondor 2 manual' link on that page and choose 'Save Target As' to download it.
Pages 35-38 on the manual cover Traps&Locks and Tools.

Yup, just what I needed, thanks. I had tried Googling for the manual, but managed not to find it.
Thanks a lot for the url, from which I successfully downloaded the manual. Then I tried opening it ..
This created a small problem when Acrobat Reader started taking up 98% of my CPU resources and refused to let me do anything at all. Turned out to be an Acrobat 9 problem that I hadn't come across before, and I had to find an alternative to Acrobat Reader (using Foxit ATM) before I could read the manual.
So there you are, three adventure games in one - first the RtK, then "hunt the manual" and finally, "WTF is this thing totally freezing my machine, and what do I do about it." I could have done with a cheat sheet for the last one. :)
P.S. My request for the details of the trap work was because I feared that Sierra had let the game, but not the manual, out into the wild - see note on failed Goggling!

I actually had that freezing problem with that manual a couple of times myself, but in my case it only happened when i tried to open the manual directly in the browser instead of downloading it first.
Anyway, you're all set for adventuring. Have fun ;)
