This is a game where you are not given much and you want to figure out as much on your own as you can. At the end of the game I got to a point where it said game over and was then given the chance to continue or start over. After continuing several times and trying several different things I still get the same game over ending. Did I lose? Did I reach a dead end in the game? If I restart I will lose all of my progress. I don't mind starting over, but I would like to know if I have reached a dead end or a bad ending and can't progress any further or if I should keep trying different things.
I'm kind of not sure myself. I assume it's the bad ending, since other lose conditions restart the level automatically. I'm probably going to replay the game starting tomorrow night. I didn't figure out until midway through the game that you can 'enter' the eyes that appear, and I found a cutscene thing in one of the doors. Plus I didnt get all of the ghost-girl cutscenes either I am sure. Hopefully we can figure this thing out together. It is a very strange/interesting game!
*GAMEPLAY SPOILERS I GUESS*

I assume you're at the point where you have the forest monster and it is right outside your house. When it first appeared you will have noticed that white bar appearing on the top of the screen. It is a timer which ticks down during the nights, and if you get to the penultimate (I think) awakening and it has run out then you must restart the game.

I personally found this quite annoying and couldn't really bring myself to replay the whole game again, which is unfortunate. Hopefully you will enjoy the replay though :)
Good to know and thanks for the tips. I have decided to restart and am learning new things this time around and hopefully will get a better ending.

Seriously? Wow, that kind of sucks, actually. Very Icepick Lodge though, putting things in the game mechanics that almost guarantee that you'll fail in some way in your first playthrough. But while I like the game so far, I think it's too light to really warrant a 2nd playthrough. The atmosphere is nice, but the shallowness of the gameplay really starts to shine through near the end.

Guess I'll just check out the `good' ending on youtube after I finish the game. Just playing the game again to try to not make any errors in the last few levels isn't my idea of an interesting challenge.
