King's quest 8 lol :D forgot to mention that in the title

Whenever I try to go to the realm of the sun the game just blacks out and crashes. I suspect it's trying to play a videofile and that makes it crash because the same blackout/crash happens when I click on "replay intro" in the main menu.
I have the game set on 3dfx and 800x600 so that it runs in full screen because the default directdraw 640x480 had the game running in a weird window.

So what can I do about the video and the transport to the realm of the sun?

Use kqmoefix (and you might need the re-encoded videos).

edit: I'm still working on the issues with switching from 800x600 to Direct Draw (for video playback) and back. But the current public release of kqmoefix should be fine in most cases. If it still doesn't work, switch to Direct Draw or Direct3D (kqmoefix also includes some fixes to make both modes more stable).
