MrDamage: Hi,
I don't think its a Windows Vista issue as I run that OS and Kingpin runs fine.
I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit version. Duel core CPU with GForce 8800 GTS graphics card.
The ppl who are having problems who are using Vists. Are you using 32 or 64 bit version? Maybe its caused by Vista 64 bit if thats the case.
I assume everyone has patched the game to v1.21? If not you can get it as part of the KP starter pack from here - http://downloads.kingpinforever.com/kp_starter_pack.zip
I'm not running KP in any compatability mode or even as an administrator but I suggest ppl who are having probs try doing that. You could even try disabling visual themes in the Compatability tab.
I know KP has issues running with laptops with onboard graphics cards but I think that is only when trying to run the Monkey mod cheat protection client.
It may also be something to do with your monitor refresh rate.

SawBone: I have Windows XP 32bit, so it may not be an OS specific problem as you indicated.
And the game comes up-to-date with the 1.21 patch already installed.
Disabling visual themes had no effects.. neither changing the refresh rate, but with a bit more investigation in that direction I managed to solve the problem. Kingpin doesn't like setups using two monitors in Dualview mode. As soon as I set it to use just my main monitor, all the stuttering went away. Thanks a lot for your input!
odd, because when I get the stuttering it's on my laptop..
i'm running on XP on a laptop, and the intro stutters for me too, to the point that is it unplayable. I know it's not a performance issue, because I can run Doom 3 and GTA:SA on the same machine. Any help???
I have exactly the same problem. Someone from GOG really needs to solve this.
Kingpin runs like a disaster on my lappy :(. Using onboard graphics too, on WinXP
Same problem here. Can't get past intro, no matter what my visual settings.

Do you use any codec pacs? They sometimes force using them to any video movies in games. Especially ffdshow and haali media splitter. In that case you must add main .exe file of game to eexceptions in codec settings. Of course if codecs are reason...
The introduction is in-game doesn't run on codecs. It is rendered in-game entirely.
Alright, this is what worked for me: right click on the shortcut, go to Compatibility, check Disable visual themes, Run at 640x480 and Run in 256 colours. Kingpin now runs fine for me, albeit still a bit laggy at times, but the choppiness is mostly gone already.
Hello there, I too had problems with the lags in gameplay, os I tried some of the suggestions. I have a laptop with and Intel GMA 950 and XP. What worked is setting the compatibility mode to 256 colors, Win98 mode and disabling visual themes. This way, I could even play at resolutions up to 1024x768 without any problems. I hope this helps someone in need :)

thanks man. had the same problem and it works fine for me now. great. :)
specs of my notebook:
win vista 32-bit
dual core 2.2ghz
intel gma4500
3 gigs of ram
I've got exactly the same problem on my notebook(Intel X3100 media accelerator) as described before. I've tried on a desktop PC with Intel integrated graphics and the problem was the same. It is strange because this is a game with quake2 engine, so maybe there is some issue with this engine and INTEL integrated graphics.
I've tried Quake3 with this notebook and there was no problem.
I too have Intel X3100 and I can't play the game. The game has a problem with this graphic card :/
