siddartho: Tbh I'm pretty disappointed by the disingenous advertising, espacially since I wanted to support gog, otherwise I'd be playing on steam right now ...
Yeah.. but even if I had to wait another month, I'd chose GOG over STEAM any day. GOG could charge twice the amount and I'd still not opt to support DRM instead. The day when Origin and STEAM go batshit insane or are being sold or close the gates for good will come and I won't pay for anything that has its functionality tied to the seller as long as there's any option for a truly fair deal. In short: (to me) bad advertisement is no reason to question the core principle I value GOG for :-)
Tho I fully agree on the scolding part regarding the advertisement for 27th ;-)
Tsofu: Eh, I wasn't too surprised when the release was an hour to midnight - that is afternoon on the US east coast. Pretty standard when it comes to international releases unfortunately.
Yarp, sad but true. But just because many do it doesn't make it the right choice. It's not about the date or time - it's about how it's being communicated. As I said above: announce 28th and give early access at 22:00 UTC on 27th = everyone cheers! But announce 27th and then deliver when the day is almost over = many long faces. 22 o'clock on 27th would've been 91% to the 28th. When communicating this, one should round 27.91 up to 28, not down to 27.
Oh well, seems like they've realized it too by now. Since the new countdown for me is set to 17:00 now (UTC+1), at least I can start the download when I come back from work - and if the servers can handle the load, I might even be able to play on the 27th as it was advertised :-)
Anyhow, let's moan, but not get full-on cringy. We'll get a DRM-FREE Kingdom Come Deliverance TODAY! Happy happy joy joy - aaaaand... did I say yay? \o/
