Hey guys, i'm not sure if you are aware of this, it's an old tip, but you can uncap the fixed 30 fps lock.
30 fps is mostly used on consoles.
Just change the ClampFPS= from 1 to 0 in JadeEmpire.ini in your installation folder.
This will make the game run at the highest possible frame-rate, which in turn will give you very smooth game-play.

I'll try this when I finish my computer backup and get a chance to play. Thanks!

Where is the file JadeEmpire.ini in the folder?

NVM found it

I'll throw this in: Jade Empire SE PCGamingWiki

At the end it mentions something about elusive stuttering. I read upon that and it seems that you need to reset the clock timer for how long your computer has been on, that's why it disappears if you restart. This happened to me with the Steam version about 2 or 3 months ago so I just restarted the computer whenever I was going to play to make sure the clock number was low as possible.

Nirth: If I recall right 1 means 30 and 0 means uncapped but any other number means specific framerate so I would highly recommend to choose your monitor's hertz equal to the maximum framerate e.g usually 60 but could be 75 and 120 as well.

I'll throw this an as well: Jade Empire SE PCGamingWiki

Well actually it's a boolean value entry so its either 1 or 0, if you enter anything other than that it will treat it as "true" or 1.

Ah, my mistake.
I think it's worth noting that by doing this your turn rate also increases to a rate that is way too fast.

I didn't notice anything like that but it's possible. There is a turn-sensibility slider somewhere in options menu. Use that to adjust the rate.

Of course unlocking the frame rate couses new issues:
To prevent them, you´ll have to set a new Frame-Rate-Lock on 60 FPS!

What might those issues be? I didn't notice any and i seriously doubt there is.
The only thing 30fps lock does is ensure compatibility across different systems, but if your system can run 60 fps (and it should) save yourself the screen-tearing and turn it on, unless of course you are happy with 30.
Also, far as i know, there isn't any lock for 60 fps.

Well, if you don´t set ANY FPS-Lock (In-Driver-Frameratelimit, V-Sync) Game could be running crazyly fast so no inputs will be recogniced anymore:
But this isn´t happening on every system, of course!

BoAllens Site is a fantastic one for FPS-Comparision, but it doesn´t have anything to do with my post...
;)

By the way, enabeling TriBuff in your driver fixes framedrops!
Oh, and another thing: Jade Empire is PLAYABLE, but not enjoyable at 30 FPS! (in opposite to games like FreeLancer, which starts beeing playable at 55 FPS... )
Just course animations are such beatiful fluently on 60 Frames *love*.

Input has nothing to do with fps, what are you talking about.
And by the way, input-wise, higher is always better because it means it checks for it more times per-second.
Unless i misunderstood what you meant...

Well, it seems that there has been a driver fix since I last recognized this issue, so I´m not able to get the problem up to the screen again:
Generally: Jade Empire was a Console-Game developed for a Console which was capable of performing ~40FPS in Jade Empire.
That was why they´ve decided to put in a 30FPS-Limit. In addition to that there had been a logical frameRate on the same level.
For PC, this logical-framerate had been improved to ~120.
If you get more frames than this, some inputs might fall out, course they´ve been putted in BETWEEN two logical frames.

But, however, this problem isn´t up-to-date anymore; so you can just forget all about it!

BTW, I´ve even never heard of the problem Nirth told you...
