Yes we have used that cover art as an homage. Not a rip off. It's been known since the game was announced :)

For example the Duke3D cover is an homage to army of darkness. Cheers.

Quoting a little bit from the start: "Homage is a show or demonstration of respect or dedication to someone or something". That's obviously a good thing. Homages happen all the time, I find it hard to believe you never encountered it before.

What would you gain from id suing, why would you even want that?

I doubt iD will care enough. And its a homage, a rip off would be to use the same image.

Moreover, the game itself is one big homage to classic 90s shooters to begin with.
