Hey all,
Since this board seems to have a pretty active I76 community, I thought I would share this so people can do some testing with it.
Basically, the IP Multiplayer DLLs were written before many people started using routers in their homes and for the longest time, you couldn't host a game from behind a router. Well, some of the people over at Interstate76.com have re-written the DLL so that you can host a game from behind a router.
Since people here are wanting to play online, I decided to post the link to the new DLL and instructions from the re-coder. If we could get some regular testing going to test this, it would be awesome.
Thanks to Lightfoot for posting it, and for BOFH for doing the coding work.
Anywho, the new DLL is at:
http://www.interstate76.com/download/dll/Winet.dll
Instructions from the re-coder:
Instructions for EVERYONE, host or client:
Replace WINET.DLL in your Interstate76/DLL folder with the version Light linked above (keep a backup, just in case!)
If you are hosting:
-Also forward port 21157 to your host machine on your router
-Make sure all LOCAL clients joining the game join AFTER the external clients have connected (working on this problem, may have found a fix: have your local clients connect to the external IP instead of the internal one, unconfirmed however!)
If you are just joining, not hosting:
Nothing! Just know the external IP of the host and connect via the "Internet" option on the main screen.
Anyone willing to test this with me?
