So the first time I downloaded and Installed, when I launched it, it blacked out the screen and I had to force shut down the computer, when the computer turned back on it damaged one of the icons for one of the desktop shortcuts I had for another game / glitched its appearance. Seemed like it tried to open GOG galaxy in the process before black out but I did not have GOG galaxy downloaded.
Uninstalled, deleted installer, made double sure I was downloading from the backup/offline version, it was, like I thought, never had issues like this before downloading from that section. So I redownloaded, tried install again, launch, same effect.
So just in case since I saw it trying to launch GOG galaxy, which seems confusing to me, since I never had this issue with any other games I purchased, I decided to Download GOG galaxy. The play button option on the game page does not seem to do anything within the GOG galaxy, but when I try to open from the desktop shortcut, now it just makes about a quarter of the screen go perma black until restart, without properly opening the game. When I did a restart through the restart option rather then force shut down it also fixed the damaged icon from before.

EDIT FIXED:
IN CASE ANYONE ELSE HAS SIMILAR PROBLEMS, SOLUTION: ended up figuring out the issue, had to change the .exe's compatibility mode (it started on windows 7 compatibility which I guess is bad for meshing with windows 10, had to switch to XP version 3, and there is a file called d3dparams in which I needed to edit the frame rate max and the screen resolution of the game to match my computer. Not sure why this caused the GOG galaxy to open up prior but either way, fixed.
