The intro and main menu run fine (other than the intro sound blipping off for a few seconds, but I'm not bothered about that.) but the actual game play itself is ridiculously slow. It seems to run at a few frames a second which is unplayable. I can't seem to find any graphic options or speed options in the installation folder to tweak this.
Any one got a solution?

Ah, thanks, I'll try disabling the starfield blur. I'm having the same problem, extremely low framerates. I hope it works. Hehe, by the way, I suggested Independence War in the request thread of this forum, and now they really offer it, which is cool. You don't get it elsewhere anymore.
Unfortunately the solutions described above don't work for me. If anyone finds any other useful info, I'll be grateful for a tip.
Blase: Tell us about your system, please. It's hard to advise with no information to go on.
However, I would definitely run IWar.exe directly to check whether it's the Glide wrapper slowing things down.

Hey, turning off blurred starfield absolutely works for me, thanks! Now I can play this game.

cyberneticbarry: Have you turned on starfield blurring in the ingame options? If you have, turn it off, it kills framerates.
Did the trick for me too,
now I just have to figure out why my ff does not center, while force feedback itselfs works great in the game. :)
Just wantedt to add that turning up ambient light actually had the same effect of slowing it down unplayable on my system, Win7 64bit. If I use standard settings everything's ok and I don't need brighter ambient lights, but maybe somebody turns them up by accident so I leave this here.
