Is there a way to rename cities, in particular your capital? I used the default name Strembirn, but all my other provinces have Japanese-style names, which is rather off-putting.

No there isn't, though you can tell the game to make up some random names. A lot of the default names are actually real places. I personally don't find the names off-putting, so what if they sound Japanese?

What a bizarre necro.

I asked this question more than a year ago, already figured out it couldn't be done, and have since pretty much exhausted the game's appeal. The last comment is so superfluous I wonder why you would even write it. "So what" indeed.
On a little used forum like this, is a year really a necro? I just felt it was worth pointing out getting wound up about province names is excessive when you say that it is 'off-putting' - I don't think I'd get put off a game just because I couldn't rename everything.
