I'm curious to know, what's in the 1946 GOG version exactly?

The product page says "Includes the original IL-2 Sturmovik™ and all four of its addon packs" But doesn't specify the names of the addon packs.

Zolop lists the original game and three addons: Forgotten Battles, Ace expansion for Forgotten Battles, and Pacific Fighters (thread). That's four elements.

MobyGames lists 1946 containing the game and five addon packs, in addition to Zolop's list, it adds Pe-2 Peshka and Sturmoviks over Manchuria ([url=

I don't own the game, I just passed on acquiring a 2nd hand french version on CD, and checked Gog's version to see if it is the same, and I am a bit puzzled as to what the four addons mentioned are, it's a typo and they are the five addons, or what.

- Forgotten Battles
- Ace Expansion Pack
- Pacific Fighters
- 1946 (prototype planes & alternate history campaigns)

All of the above are included in this version, plus some more stuff (Pe-2 Peshka & Sturmoviks over Manchuria). This is the definitive version of IL-2 Sturmovik. ;)
Thanks a lot for the clarification. It seemed to be this had to be the "definitive version", so I was confused about the vagueness of the description.

I might pass on this game as I only have a gamepad and a friend told me you can't fly with mouse without the aid of 3rd party software. Ah, the times of Stunt Island and F29 Retaliator. I'll reconsider it if I ever get a decent HOTAS joystick.

Thanks again.

You're welcome! Not sure about controlling the planes with the mouse, but IL-2 is enjoyable even with just a standard single-stick flightstick. ;)
Same, I always played it with a single stick XYZ-axis controller and never got bothered. Hell, I even sometimes played it on a XY axis one and used the keyboard for the Z axis, and it wasn't too much of a purge. With the mouse though...
