When I try to setup the controllers in the game, through the "input" window, I can't figure out a way to rebind the axes. The game automatically decided that the slider on my X52 Pro is the throttle, and I can't find a way to change that.

I also can't find how to bind my rudder pedals to the yaw instead of the joystick's twist axes.

When I run the il2set.exe, both the rudder pedals and the X52 Pro are recognized without issues, but I just can't find a way to rebind buttons and axes!
You're probably trying to bind into the buttons-only section. Go into the inputs menu and scroll all the way down where you'll see a similar set of bindable commands under "HOTAS." Those are the options that work with sliders, stick etc.
When I was using an X52 I had the same problem. The X52 did that in a few games.

From memory from the controller setup I selected throttle then moved the throttle handle from zero to full to select that axis. I seem to remember I had to try a few times. Wish I could be of more help but I have not used my X52 for awhile now.

If you ca not get it working download the X52 profile from Mission for today (M4T) site. They have a large selection of downloads for this game. Or try their forum or SimHQ forums in the IL2 section. You have to register to download but worth it.

The X52 is a good stick, but that axis problem stuck it's head up in a number of games.

Hi,

I just got this game. Previous FS experience 20 yrs ago with falcon 3.0. Brought my CH Flightstick out of storage and trying to use it. I have a USB game port adapter and trying to use that. Doesn't seem to be working properly.
I may have an old sound blaster card with a game port on it, or could buy and install a modern game port card, but wondering if I can avoid.
Brand new budget PC I got at tiger direct, runs windows 8.1.
If the Flightstick simply cannot be made to work, what is the best alternative controller or options?

Thanks

Try v 4.55 of the Control Manager software:

Also sounds like it doesn't like USB3 so much, so if you're using a USB3 port and have USB2 ports on your PC, try one of them instead. (USB3 ports should be blue inside)
I have an old Saitek 52. I went to their site and downloaded the drivers and software. I cannot find my throttle though and had to use a PC2 to USB adapter to plug it in with a piece of USB cable I had.

Is it possible I'll be able to get this to work without the throttle?
