Might sound a silly question, but will all the aircraft which is included in the All Aircraft Arcade patch be in this latest version?
E.G. Planes like the B-29, B-17, types of Mosquito.

The latest official version (4.09m) does not include any of the modded airplanes from the UI 1.1 and/or UI1.2 mod. In fact, the B-25 was removed from IL2 in the official 4.09m
At the moment, the UI1.2 mod is only compatible with the 4.09b1 (beta) patch.
Seems most servers at this moment are only running 4.08m or 4,09b1m for their maps were built for those older versions.
Currently I know of only one server that runs 4.09m and that is Warbirds of Prey's Spits versus 109s Server. They also run two other servers that are 4.09b1m with mods

There is suppose to be a patch for UI1.2 (UI1.2.5) but I do not know if it will be for the 4.09m or the 4.09b1m patch.

This is confusing. So, for best compatibility, I have to install the older IL-2 package from GOG (no longer available on their servers), run out and find one fan-made patch, and then install the official patch, and then use another utility to dial back my version number so I can play on other servers?

There 4.09m servers out there, but they are all stock, no mods. If you want to fly mods right now, you need to start with 4.08m stock and add the mods.
The one 4.09m server I can recommend, is Warbirds of Prey's Spits vs. 109s. They use security to catch hacks, they have proactive admins that are accessible either on Teamspeak or their forums. The missions/maps are historically oriented and it is full cockpit, no outside views. (The reason I keep promoting them is that is where I play, though on their modded servers.)
And at moment it is more confusing since there are currently 2-3 fan-made patches out there :( But that should change as the mod community has decided to check in their egos and create a single mod patch for consistency.
I was talking to one of the Warbirds of Prey's server admins on Teamspeak and one of the reasons that there are so few 4.09m servers is that the 4.09m patch removed the B-25 Mitchel and most server operators have a few maps that use the B-25. So instead of reworking the maps, they have just stayed using 4.08m or 4.09b1m patches on their server.

More and more servers is moving to official version 4.09, so the best, what everybody should do is upgrade to 4.09 (use 4.08 version and use offical patch to 4.09 or download 4.09 version from GOG.com)

I tried it for myself and I am just novice in sim. flying and I must say it is great!!! You will got new realistic sounds, better textures,new campaigns, better AI....and more
BE CAREFUL with installation: there is very important 2.step of installation (you need to download small fix patch). It is crucial for digital downloaded copies, like from GOG.com.
It would be great if someone from GOG.com (fan of Sturmovik) could include this fix patch into the installer. Please?

Yes, it does look like the point I brought up is getting closer to becoming a moot point, though at this moment it isn't quite yet.. From what I understand there is still a little bit of work for UP and HSFX (UI being incorporated into HSFX), and once that is done, should be able to switch between the two mods or stock version of 4.09m fairly easily.

The main servers I fly are moving to the UP2.0 mod within a a week or so.

I am in the middle of making an install of UP2.0 and am to understand that HSFX can also be installed ontop of it so one can choose either 4.09m Stock, the UltraPack mod or the HistorySFX Mod before they play by use of a switcher..

i dont know if I fully understand your question but you can find JGSME switcher in HSFX 4.1 or Ultr@Pack 2.0. It is used for ease switching on/off mods in your modified IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 4.09 installation. With JGSME you can change from "base" 4.09 to modd version and back again

I just redownload the big 4.3 gig for this game... Only for having the lastest patch. Take 1/4 of my internet limit...
