My level 3 ranger can't dual-class to cleric. Are race, alignment, and abilities the only requirements? I read on a guide somewhere that to dual-class you need 15 in the first class' primary ability and 17 in the second. He is human, chaotic good, and 18 CON and WIS. What's wrong?

He probably needs 15+ STR and INT as well. At least in the older Gold Box games a Ranger's Primer Requisites were STR, INT and WIS.
Alignment doesn't matter if you dual from Ranger to Cleric.

There's a minimum DEX and STR requirement for Rangers as well, if memory serves.

Thanks! The problem was low DEX. My INT is still <15 so I guess that isn't a requirement.
