Is this normal or somekind of bug? In Baldurs Gate every NPC has some voice line.

I.
Do you play the german version?
I remember there was a problem with the non-english dialog files missing entries, take a look if the npc "says" something at the chat if you click him.

II.
Do you use a Creative X?
Some of the newer ones had a problem with the icewindale and the baldur gate games.
It was a problem with the Openal if i remember right.

Yeah the german version, but i used this tweak to force the game to use english audio:

No problems in Baldurs Gate 1 EE o 2 EE. And it works in Icewind Dale EE too, beside the 'you clicked a NPC and he says somethings funny' sounds.
i have no other ideas what could be wrong, sorry.
I've got the same issue. I am playing IWD1, gog's original edition, no mods. In the beginning of my game, they all spoke up when selected. But at some point this stopped. I can't remember when this stopped. I played the main game to completion, then started an Expansion Only game, which I am currently in. I can't remember if it stopped working with the Expansion or when I was playing the main game.

I looked at my Sound Options, and it all looks to be turned on (as it should, as I've never changed any of the Sound defaults).

When playing IWD1, the thing I miss the most compared to BG is the in-game NPCs: Imoen, Jaheira, Khalid, Dynaheir, Minsc, Boo. My IWD1 game is awfully quiet....

I would suggest disabling EAX in the sound options. I remember that there are locations where it simply doesn't work for some reason.
Thanks for the reply Tuthrick. That setting is not clickable in my game. My soundcard must not have that functionality. Anyways, that is already not turned on.

Any other ideas?
Just to follow up with this issue:

In my game, I went into the Record screen for my first character, then clicked the Customize button, and re-assigned the voice-set sound. Then I did this with the rest of my characters.

Voila! They all speak again.

I've done the main game and HoW, and am just starting TotL. At some point during the main game, when I noticed they all went silent, their voice-set sound musta somehow got un-assigned. So you just have to re-assign them.

Wish I'd thought of this earlier.
Also, I originally thought my characters fell silent sometime during the main game. I now believe that I am remembering wrong.

I have a save-game for the start of each Chapter of the main game, as well as each new location in the HoW expansion.

When I re-load a save-game from the main game, all my characters got voices.

When I re-load a save-game from the HoW expansion, none of my characters got voices.

The way I played this, is I first finished the main game. Then I created a new game, Expansion Only, and imported my IWD characters (the ones exported at the end of the main game).

It appears that at this point, the voices didn't make it into my Expansion Only game. I can only guess the IWD characters (the ones exported at the end of the main game) don't have their voices exported with the rest of the data?

So I played the HoW expansion with no character voices. I just created another Expansion Only game, to play the Trials of the Luremaster other expansion, and re-assigned the voices to my characters. Why didn't I think to do that weeks ago, dummy!

Anyways, hope this thread helps others.
