I was almost done with the first part of Icewind Dale Complete when my old computer gave out.

The old computer ran the program fine in a window.

Now that I have Windows 8 (which is a piece of crap anyway), IWDC will not run in a window even though I set it to do so in the config program. Anyfixes?

I run Windows 7 but I had a similar problem to you earlier tonight after I purchased/installed IWDC. Whenever I clicked the shortcut, it would just show the icon on my taskbar, then if I clicked that icon (to show the window), it just filled 3/4ths of my screen with a black box.

What I did to fix it was I ran "setup-ddrawfix.exe" in the IWDC directory. I picked option "1" which is "force directdraw emulation." It worked fine after that. I think the problem is that the GOG installer sets the other option (option 2), which is ineffective.
