Hey all, I just bought and downloaded IWD complete from GOG and at first it wouldn't load at all, but then I enabled OpenGL graphics in Config and it loads fine and is not slow or anything.

However, I cannot see any text. For example, in the character creation menus, all the buttons are blank, when they should usually have written on them the names of classes, races, etc. They are all clickable and work correctly, but I just can't see any text on any of the buttons. Ideas?

It's maddening to think that this is the only thing wrong, but it's pretty obnoxious because I have no ideas what buttons are for what if they have no writing on them!

And yes, I made sure it was installed outside of either Program Files folder. I thought I was running it as Admin, by right clicking, then clicking on "Run as Administrator". I've heard some people say there is a check box for this, but I never see this, I just see the button "Run as Administrator" with a little shield next to it.

I've tried running it in various compatibility modes, etc. Nothing I do changes anything. I haven't tried yet to actually *play* the game, as I can't see the words on the buttons to properly create characters (although clicking the buttons does what it is supposed to do)...

I've searched this forum and haven't seen anyone else having the same problem. It's relatively minor in comparison to crashes and freezes, but still.

Ok, more specifically...

When I start the game, the main game menu looks fine. When I click Create Game, the white-colored text in the box disappears when I mouse over it. And when I click Full Game, and then the party creation screen comes up, the buttons you click to make a new character have no text on them.

From there on out, I can click on all buttons and they all function as they should, except there is no text anywhere.
Hmz unsure how to help you.

I DLed IWD 1 and 2 from GOG, installed them on my win7 and had absolutely no trouble with either.

Both installed on custom drive, both work better then I remember them back when they were released.

In both i cranked all settings to max, every slider to max. Graphics to cusom resolution and opengl to on and 32bit graphics. That's what I remember now, I'll check more when I get home.
Hi!

I have the same problem here. Running in Windows 7 but in my case I've installed in the default folder at program files folder. Is there any solution for this? Perhaps the mods as Auriel's Bane and some fix packs may solve this but, however, I don't know where to install them either so a help about where to install the mods (folder and everythin) will be also usefull.

Thanks!!
I've had the exact same problem. Here's to hoping we find a solution.
I had the same problem with not getting any text in the boxes, it whent away after i reinstalled the driver to graphics card, so that might be worth a try.
Same problem here. No crash, sgraphics are fine! Its just most of the game text disappears on mouse over, or no text at all. Makes going through menus or playing the game nearly impossible. SOmething is happening with the games text font. The main game is also extremely slow. I tried turning off DirectDraw with dxcpl, run compatibility modes, etc... but still no change.
Alright I think I fixed this font glitch and speed problem. Dont know which did it but heres what I did differently.

Reinstalled the game outside of the program files folder.
In the application folder I ran the file setup-ddrawfix, instead of Wind3d I switched to Force direct draw emulation.
Ran the config program, color depth 32 bit, uncheck OpenGl 3d acceleration.

Now the game runs flawlessly!
Hello,

Were you ever able to fix this problem?

I'm having the exact same problem. I'd appreciate any help!

Edit: Woops, I did not see mr_daruman's post. His fix worked! I run Windows 8, by the way, and that method works! Thank you.
