I received a new computer under warranty, and was forced to accept windows 8. I have been trying to install icewind dale, but nothing works. I had it working on my old computer, but now it wont even run. I have tried running with compatibility mode, as well as running as the admin. The game doesn't even load, just an icon in the corner, and i have to use task manager to close it.

any advice??? Id really like to play.. this so incredibly frustrating!

Run the config file in the program folder first. Set Graphic to use OpenGL 3D Acceleration.

Did you try running the install as Administrator? I have IWD running on Windows 8.1, running as Admin and compatible with XP SP3. I run it from the traditional desktop, not the metro desktop, there is quite a delay from the time I double-click the shortcut, but it does run.

I have an HP laptop with a AMD processor.
