Hi guys,
I've just got a copy of Icewind Dale and every time I create new charactors to start a game one of my charactor dies at start up and the game freezes. It happens every time and I haven't been able to play anything yet, but have created new charactors over a dozen times. I'm using windows 7 if that makes any difference.

VERY FRUSTRATING.

Phil

How and where did you install the game? The character that dies - is it always the same character slot, same race, or same class? (i.e. is there a common factor?) Did you install any mods?

Hi,

I installed it on my d-drive as it's bigger than where it wanted to install it (my c-drive is pretty full) so I navigated to another drive.

It's always the first charactor slot that dies, but doesn't matter what class, race or even if it's an imported charactor.

Very weird. I've not seen this issue myself (I also run Win7 and have the game installed on a separate drive from the OS). Game runs without issue for me. Honestly, I don't recall ever seeing this type of behavior reported with regards to this game. Are you running the game in compatibility mode? The only thing I do with mine is run as admin. I have mods installed as well. Have you tried re-installing?
If you have a save before the one giving you trouble, try opening that game and see if the same thing happens.

One thing comes to mind. Was your player1 poisoned, or with very low HP with an item that gives extra HP such as the Black Wolf talisman?

He said this happens when he creates characters and first starts the game. So he hasn't even played them yet.
