I hadn't realized how many people at Beamdog came from the modding community.
It was a good read. And certainly makes me believe the EE will be awesome... UNLESS they start changing stuff because "people ask for it" like adding joinables NPC. Leave IWD be IWD. Is coming out tomorrow =D

I'm fine with them not adding joinable NPC's themselves, but I hope that the engine supports it for the modders. The NPC mod is great, but its a bit finicky in regards to the joinable NPC's. The issues were resolved with the IWD->BG2 port mod, which apparently a large part of IWD:EE is based on. So I'm hopeful

Yes, modders will be able to add NPCs as easily as they did for other modern IE variants (BG2 or EE).
I really don't understand all the bashing, 20 dollars is not an absurd of money for a classic game redone with some cool new features...as another poster said, it gives it exposure to a new, younger crowd that may help beamdog create either a new original game in the forgotten realms setting or a sequel to IWD (hopefully not BG though, that story is done)

Hickory: I got very excited when BG:EE was announced and ended up sorely disappointed. With that disappointment, and IWD having far less replayability, I simply cannot get excited over this release. I'll be spending my money elsewhere, but I hope others enjoy the release nontheless.
This... I bought BGEEs only to fund GoG, own the complete series (BG), and import my endgame before ascension character in BG1EE to wreak havoc and see ninth level spells cast in 1.

I seriously hope and wish others to enjoy the remake, too. I am more than good enough with ID1, exactly as is (game aged well).
