It was one of my first games, I got it back when I was 11. I'd always wanted to pick up the expansion, but I never got around to it. I also tend to prefer a hard copy to a digital copy, though I also tend to make exceptions for GOG. So, my question, should I get the collection here, or should I just pick up a copy of Heart of WInter on Amazon or Ebay?
I, too, prefer hard copies, but I'd get the collection here. You get Trials of the Luremaster as well which seems to be tough to track down (and it's only available as a digital copy as far as I'm aware). Not to mention the oter goodies (soundtrack, wallpapers, etc.

GOG is the only digital delivery service that I use for games I actually care about. With no DRM on them, you can back them up as many times and wherever you wish.
You can find Trials of the Luremaster at Sorcerer's Place, and supposedly at Planet Baldur's Gate. I was not aware it was considered hard to find. And yes, it was download only.
Check the links for TotL at those sites. Last I checked (I checked Planet BG just a couple days ago), they didn't work.
I checked the one at Planet BG, but it wasn't working, but I haven't checked the SP one.

EDIT: The SP one seems to work, but, as I said, I don't have Heart of Winter so I can't try it out.

I love hard copies and have the edition with How and Totl. Even with the problems I am having on win7 I think it was a good deal to get the gog edition. The extra's are nice and the file is easy to store so I know I will have it. And now I can preserve my disks.

I haven't bought BG from gog and may not because we actually have 2 hard copies of the complete. But IWD was a great deal.
Well, I managed to accidentally buy a copy on eBay for $3.99, so I think I'll just go with those instead of the GOG version. The soundtrack is nice though.
Get this one. Hard copies are nicer and remind us of a glorious time gone by. But they can get damaged or lost. And you have to start getting the latest patches yourself.

With this very cheap digital copy you get instantly to playing, have a secure backup method, and cool extras. A real bargain and a no-brainer to me.

Cheers.

PD: plus, you support GOG that is totally awesome.
Well, as I said, I already got a cheap copy. Plus, I don't actually mind getting the patches. I am all for supporting GOG though. I'll probably pick up a couple games at some point in the future though.
Doesn't the hard copy of Heart of Winter have Starforce DRM? If that's true then I'd say that's a good reason to get the copy here.
